DJ Kavinsky dies

The French DJ Vincent Belorgey, better known by his pseudonym Kavinsky, has died. The producer and artist was found dead yesterday in his home in Paris. Nothing is yet known about the cause of his death.

Kavinsky started in 2006 with the EPs “Teddy boy” and “1986”. A year later he was already touring with major names such as Daft Punk, The Rapture, Justice and SebastiAn. But he only became truly known with the single “Nightcall” in 2011, which was used as the title song for the film “Drive” by director Nicolas Winding Refn, starring Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan. The song became a major hit in France and Belgium. It was also covered in 2013 by the British band London Grammar. His first album only appeared in 2013, entitled “Outrun”. A version of the song “Odd look” with The Weeknd as well as one with SebastiAn was released.

He was also active as an actor in the films “Aaltra”, “Atomik Circus, le retour de James Bataille”, “Ultranova” and “Steak”, which was directed by Mr. Oizo.

In 2024 he performed together with singer Angèle during the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris with the song “Nightcall”.

Kavinsky was 50 years old.
