MaWayy and Right Said Fred revamp iconic pop tune  “I’m Too Sexy”

In a clever nod to the past, Emmy Award-winning Iranian-American duo MaWayy has teamed up with UK pop phenomenon Right Said Fred for a creative reimagining of the iconic 90s hit “I’m Too Sexy.” Featuring fresh vocals from the original idols, the song maintains its smooth, sensual voice, complemented in this version by a danceable and energetic beat, effectively creating a brand new gem ready to captivate summer dance crowds once again. “I’m Too Sexy” still stands as one of the biggest hits of the early 90s. Marking the breakthrough of UK duo Right Said Fred (who continued to dominate the charts throughout the decade), the song reached #1 in several countries, including the US and Australia, while also spending six weeks at #2 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming a certified global summer hit in 1991.

Fast forward to our decade, when Iranian-American dance act MaWayy met Right Said Fred through one of their mutual agents. The duo, comprised of Emmy Award-winning television composer/producers Brian Wayy and Masoud Fuladi, had already been making waves with several club tunes, including their 2017 debut “Wrong” (which currently boasts over 1.6 million views on YouTube) and 2020’s “Calling Her My Name,” and were eager to explore collaboration with the iconic UK pop act.

As fate would have it, both teams were interested in reinventing “I’m Too Sexy,” with MaWayy inspired to create a fresh groove around the song, while Right Said Fred were open to revisiting their famous hit. The result was phenomenal, with the guys delivering a stellar performance, featuring their characteristic smooth vocal style in a wonderfully updated form, perfectly complemented by MaWayy’s innovative production sound.

In this new version, “I’m Too Sexy” builds on Right Said Fred’s sensual vocals, evoking the vibe of the ’91 original, while MaWayy infuses the track with subtle yet captivating sound effects, transporting their classic lines about fashion lifestyle and strutting ‘my little turn on the catwalk’ straight into a glossy 2024 atmosphere.
