The Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation is one of the most successful bands in the genre. Known worldwide, the band around singer Sharon den Adel is one of the best-selling musical export products in the Netherlands. With fans as far as South America, the band knows how to let sold-out crowds all over the world to their music. Over 1000 performances in dozens of countries around the world, and their hits are known everywhere they go.

Founded in 1996, the band quickly broke through and soon the band played Dynamo Open Air in Eindhoven. With singles such as “Ice Queen” and “Stand My Ground”, the band also broke through internationally with the general public. Collaborations with the Metropole Orkest, Keith Caputo, Tarja Turunen, Jacoby Shaddix, David Pirner, Xzibit and Jasper Steverlink were set up and the band toured several times all over the world, as far as Japan. Albums “Mother Earth”, “The Silent Force” and “The Heart of Everything” were rewarded with platinum status and in total the band has sold more than 4 million albums.

Now, waiting for the band’s eighth album, Maxazine asked Within Temptation bassist Jeroen van Veen, who was there right from the start) about Within Temptation’s musical footprint. Not the hits, but the songs that have determined the sound of Within Temptation over the years. Songs which are essential for new fans to get to know the band’s sound best. Tracks that give the best overall picture of the band’s style. Jeroen was happy to collaborate with Maxazine to compile a list, especially for you of the most essential songs of the symphonic metal band.
