Video-premiere: NAR – Stachini

Conceptual musician Steve Stachini, operating under the name NAR, has completed his video clip for the single ‘Stachini’. The track comes from “Unconventional”, the intense debut album that was released earlier this year as a sonic counterpart to his autobiography from 2020. Stachini worked on it for five years, nineteen tracks, and an artistic mission that began with poetry that Stachini wrote as a child to survive.
The single ‘Stachini’ carries the name of the man behind NAR himself. That is no coincidence, and certainly not ego-driven. Within the conceptual framework of “Unconventional” this track functions as an anchor point: who is the person who has lived through all this, processed it and ultimately dares to tell it? The video provides an answer that words alone cannot offer. A clear introduction. Clever.
Stachini produced a visual counterpart for every track on the album, and ‘Stachini’ is no exception. Where the album as a whole moves from survival to liberation, from a child in abuse, via a young man who channels his emotions into poetry, to an adult who reshapes his story into art. This clip places the human being at the centre. Not as a victim, but as the author of his own story.
Musically, ‘Stachini’ sits close to the musical standard that carries much of the album, but with the directness that suits a track that uses the artist’s own name as its title. The orchestral layering that gives “Unconventional” its weight is also present here, without becoming melodramatic, exactly as in the strongest moments on the album.
Those who already know “Unconventional” will find depth in this clip. Those who do not yet know it can start here. The video for ‘Stachini’ is not just a promotional piece for an album by NAR; it is a portrait. And as the album itself promises: it is ‘naked and raw’.
“Unconventional” is now released, and the video for ‘Stachini’ can be watched below, as a premiere on Maxazine!
