SLIPKNOT Announces “Here Comes The Pain” North American Tour for 2024
|Heavy metal titans and cultural phenomenon Slipknot are thrilled to announce the North American leg of their “Here Comes The Pain” Tour. The band, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their seminal debut album “Slipknot,” is set to hit arenas nationwide this summer, continuing their global domination.
A Quarter-Century of Chaos
Released on June 29, 1999, Slipknot’s self-titled debut album was a game-changer for the metal scene. The album, filled with jaw-clenching riffs and Ross Robinson’s venomous production, broke away from traditional metal and embraced a fresh, aggressive direction. This new approach not only resonated with fans but also left a lasting impact on youth culture.
Guitarist Jim Root reflects on the band’s early days: “We loved what we did with the first record, but we didn’t even know if there was gonna be anything after that. We just wanted people to hear it. Selling out records and shows, having successful tours—those were dreams that came true for us.”
Over the years, Slipknot has built a legacy that nips at the heels of metal’s elder statesmen. Their drive, innovation, and relentless touring have earned them tens of billions of streams, millions of followers, and a slew of accolades, including 64 award nominations and 27 wins, among them a Grammy for “Before I Forget” from “Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses).”
Legacy of Influence
Slipknot’s influence extends beyond music. In 2012, the band created Knotfest, a travelling multi-stage festival that has since become a global phenomenon. Knotfest has evolved into Knotfest.com, an entertainment hub that champions young artists and thinkers, further cementing Slipknot’s status as a thought leader and cultural pioneer.
As they celebrate 25 years of their groundbreaking debut album, Slipknot is committed to reconnecting with their fans more intimately. Founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan explains, “As we’ve grown as a band, we’ve had fewer and fewer of those intimate, personal moments. On this anniversary, we’re gonna make it more personal. Just get ready to have your face kicked in because we do what we do, spreading that maggot culture.”
