Michelle David & The True-tones with “That Is You” through Europe

“That Is You” is the title of the new single by Michelle David & The True-tones. The track is just as soulful and catchy as the previously released title track from the album “Brothers & Sisters”. The record, which will be released on April 5 on the Italian label Record Kicks, is the seventh album by Michelle David & The True-tones.

The band will resume their European tour on March 31 in the Netherlands and will visit Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Belgium as well.

On “Brothers & Sisters” – perhaps Michelle David & The True-Tones’ best album – the band returns to a more raw and energetic sound. The band draws inspiration from old gospel, the classics of the renowned Stax label, and the records of Bobby Womack, to name just a few. The new album by Michelle David & The True-tones was also recorded with that in mind; live with the full band; in one room at the same time; energetic, authentic and compelling. Although in all cases you hear the unmistakable sound and message of Michelle David & The True-tones.

Michelle David about the new album: ‘This album emerged at a pivotal moment where I didn’t want it to be merely another self-absorbed journey but rather a collective tour of “US & WE.” How could I remain oblivious to all that transpires around us? We face a multitude of pressing concerns that demand immediate attention. This isn’t something that I’m conjuring up myself; it’s everywhere – on TV, radio, social media, and in publications. Instead of turning a blind eye, I decided to express it through the only medium I knew how: singing into the mirror and allowing the mirror’s light to reflect upon you.’

The individual talents of Michelle David (vocals), Paul Willemsen (guitar, bass guitar), Onno Smit (guitar, bass guitar) and Bas Bouma (drums) have been a well-oiled machine for years that have created the characteristic sound of Michelle David & The True-tones. determine. The band’s instrumentation, characterized by funky bass lines, and Michelle David’s powerful vocals create a lively whole in the studio. The prominent addition of horns on the album gives a dynamic dimension to the songs.

Michelle David & The True-tones know how to present a glowing evening of classic soul. Their exciting grooves, powerful vocals and strong melodies have already conquered many festival grounds. But the joints in numerous clubs, concert halls and pop temples – at home and abroad – have now also been tested for cracks; from Pinkpop to North Sea Jazz and tours from Spain to Scandinavia, every show is an unforgettable live experience.
