American rock and roll band Certain Death has unleashed their latest high-octane single, “Paranoid.” This quick-hitting track dives headfirst into the anxiety-fueled, thrill-seeking culture of nightlife, delivering a sonic experience that mirrors its lyrical content. With fast and heavy verses that keep listeners on edge, the song offers only a brief respite during its phased and flanged choruses before charging into a breakdown that serves as a mission statement. The tempo rises again, ending abruptly, leaving listeners questioning whether their night out was worth it.

“This song really speaks to the shared experience of overindulgence and paranoia in nightlife that is both repulsive and irresistible,” said lead singer Henry Black. “It’s all too familiar to anyone in a scene of artists pulling late-nighters.”

Certain Death is a throwback to the golden era of rock and roll, complete with amp towers, flashy guitars, long hair, and polyester store suits. The band was born in the darkest depths of the pandemic in mid-2020, initially serving as an outlet for Henry Black to process individual loss during a time of generational trauma and personal disarray.

Today, Certain Death’s stage performances are known for their over-the-top guitar harmonies, duelling solos, and layers of satire, all presented with a front line of matching guitars and basses. In 2023, the band expanded its lineup by welcoming Matt White on guitar and Jared Schapker on bass, joining long-time drummer CJ Young.

Fans can look forward to another single in September, as the band is hard at work on their upcoming LP, “Strange Garden,” set for release in October.
