Shakira Performs Historic Concert in Rio de Janeiro for Over 2 Million Fans

On Saturday, GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY®-winning artist Shakira performed for an audience of more than 2 million fans during the Todo Mundo No Rio concert in Rio de Janeiro. In doing so, she further cemented her status as a global icon and legendary performer. The concert took place on Copacabana Beach, was free to attend, and drew fans from all over the world to witness this historic show.
During her triumphant return to Brazil, where her international touring career began, Shakira addressed the audience in Portuguese throughout the concert. Shakira is a Colombian singer-songwriter and one of the most awarded Latin artists in the world, with global sales exceeding 95 million albums and a career spanning multiple decades. She is known for blending Latin, pop and global influences into a distinctive live performance style.

She delivered an energetic set featuring some of her biggest career hits, including “Hips Don’t Lie”, “La Tortura” and “La Bicicleta”. The performance also featured several guest appearances in tribute to Brazil, including Anitta for the premiere of their new single “Choka Choka”, “O Leãozinho” with Caetano Veloso, “O Que É, O Que É” with Maria Bethânia and Unidos da Tijuca, “Waka Waka” with dance group Mare Dance, “Objection” with Unidos da Tijuca and “País Tropical” with Ivete Sangalo.
Todo Mundo No Rio, known as ‘the largest concert in the world’, is a major event in Rio de Janeiro celebrating music, culture and community with free public access. The event broke multiple records and became one of the most attended concerts in history, with more than 2 million people present. It also generated a major economic impact, with an estimated 800 million dollars in revenue and a 123 percent increase in travel bookings.

The show opened with a drone performance by Studio Drift using 1500 drones, marking the largest drone show ever staged for a concert audience of this scale. Shakira wore four outfits by Etro, including a silk jumpsuit with a tropical paisley print decorated with Swarovski crystals in the colours of the Brazilian flag. She also wore a look featuring more than 150,000 Swarovski crystals in sapphire, indigo and deep blue tones, alongside designs by Brazilian creators Victor Hugo Mattos, HISHA and Dario Mittman.
Shakira’s twelfth studio album “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” received widespread critical acclaim and won a GRAMMY® for Best Latin Album. It became the most streamed album of 2024 within 24 hours of release and achieved multiple platinum certifications. Shortly after its release, she surprised more than 40,000 fans with a performance in Times Square, marking the largest live audience ever gathered at that location.

In 2025, Shakira launched her world tour “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran”, which became the highest grossing Latin American tour of all time, earning 421.6 million dollars and attracting more than 3.3 million attendees. Her earlier album “El Dorado” reached number one in 37 countries and surpassed 12 billion streams. The hit “SHAKIRA || BZRP Music Sessions #53” broke records across streaming platforms and made her the first solo female artist to reach the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 with a Spanish language track.
