Dropkick Murphys turn Boston into a battlefield for St. Patrick’s Day
The City of Boston is gearing up for its biggest party weekend of the year as a favourite
sons the Dropkick Murphys return for shows beginning this Friday, March 13, at the
MGM Music Hall at Fenway, a mini-show Saturday afternoon March 14 at MGM,
evening shows at MGM on March 14 and 15, and a final blowout show on St. Patrick’s Day,
Tuesday, March 17, at Citizens House of Blues. All shows are sold out except the
Sunday evening show, for which few tickets remain.
It’s been a wild ride this year for frontman Ken Casey and crew. Never a band to shy
away from social consciousness, Dropkick Murphys have had a lot to say with the
current administration’s attacks on civil liberties and fellow citizens through the
thuggishness of ICE tactics, and their current album “For The People” – released July 4
– reiterates the tone that has been with the band since its inception, namely, to stand up
against division and inequality.
During this first year of the second Trump presidency, there have been few artists as
consistent and eloquent about their support for immigrants, human rights and the rights
of workers, especially union workers, as the Dropkick Murphys. This support has
garnered attention from such varied media as Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, and The
Telegraph, the Los Angeles Times, and The Daily Show. They consistently put their
time and money where their hearts are.
Maxazine.com will be there for the September 13 show and looks forward to providing a
review of opening night.
