Last Saturday night, Snow Patrol performed in a sold-out Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The Northern Irish band, known for hits like “Chasing Cars”, “Run”, and “Just Say Yes”, made their return to Amsterdam as part of their new European Tour.

Frontman Gary Lightbody enthusiastically greeted the audience and kicked off the set with “Take Back the City”, a powerful opener that immediately set the tone for the rest of the show. The production value was stunning, with an impressive array of lighting, laser beams, projections, and screens that were rolled around and across the stage throughout the evening.

During the nearly two-hour concert, the band performed an extensive setlist, striking a beautiful balance between classics and various new songs from their latest album “The Forest is the Path”, released last year. The projections enhanced the songs through matching themes such as trees of life and natural phenomena.

During “The Beginning”, thousands of confetti pieces were released from above, fluttering through the venue like butterflies. The hits were the most appreciated this evening, with the audience moving along from the very first notes. A particularly special moment was the performance of “Shut Your Eyes”, where Gary led the crowd in a sing-along with increasing tempo under his guitar play. ‘This is gonna be fun,’ the frontman called out moments before the show was unfortunately interrupted due to a medical incident in the audience. Gary showed his concern and only resumed the concert after receiving a positive update, accompanied by applause.

Towards the end of the evening, the band played their biggest hit “Chasing Cars”, with the entire sold-out Ziggo Dome singing along at the top of their lungs. After the encore, Gary and his band returned once more to play their new single “But I’ll Keep Trying”, which was enthusiastically received by the audience, followed by the evening’s closer “Just Say Yes”, with a packed Ziggo Dome singing along one final time.

Snow Patrol proved once again at the Ziggo Dome why they remain such a beloved and respected band after all these years. A worthy headliner indeed, which they’ll prove again this summer at several festivals.
