Jalen Ngonda Returns with “Anyone in Love” and Exciting Tour Plans

After the success of his recent hit “Illusions,” released in February, Jalen Ngonda returned to Hive Mind studio, the place where his journey with Daptone began. Collaborating with Mike Buckley and Vincent Chiarito—both former members of Charles Bradley’s Extraordinaires—alongside a talented team of A-list musicians from the Daptone family, Jalen has produced a new single titled “Anyone in Love.”

At just 17 years old, Jalen took a bold step by moving from his hometown in Maryland, USA, to Liverpool to study at the Institute of Performing Arts. This move allowed him to develop his rich, nuanced voice and exquisite falsetto. A chance encounter with Daptone co-founder Neal Sugarman after a last-minute opening slot for Jools Holland set the stage for Jalen’s journey to New York, where he began writing and recording his debut album, “Come Around and Love Me.” Released in September 2023, the album received rave reviews for its heavy arrangements and introspective lyrics, showcasing Motown sophistication and establishing itself as one of the finest soul albums of the decade—a true future classic.

Despite his young career, Jalen has already gained the admiration of A-list fans, including Elton John, Snoop Dog, and Jill Scott. His impressive touring resume features performances at renowned festivals like Newport Folk Festival, Glastonbury, Rock Werchter, and Montreux Jazz Festival. He also embarked on a sold-out UK and EU tour in the Spring of 2024, further solidifying his status as a captivating performer. Notably, he made a memorable appearance at the prestigious Piano Rooms Sessions, where he debuted “Illusions” with the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Having already achieved a sold-out date at London’s Roundhouse before, Jalen will continue his journey with a series of UK and European tour dates in March 2025.
