On a warm summer evening, an enthusiastic crowd gathered at the iconic Waldbühne in Northeim for an unforgettable performance by German pop star Sarah Connor. As part of her “My Favorite Songs” tour, the evening was a perfect mix of new hits and nostalgic favourites. Connor, who has been capturing the hearts of music lovers for more than two decades, once again demonstrated why she is one of the greatest German pop artists of her generation.

A Journey Through Time

The concert opened powerfully with “Deutsches Liebeslied,” a track from her successful album “Muttersprache” (2015). Starting with this song was a smart move; the audience was immediately drawn into the emotional depth of her German repertoire. The atmosphere was further built up with “Blau” and “Halt mich,” two of the most beloved songs from her more recent album “Herz Kraft Werke” (2019). It was clear that Sarah felt completely at ease on stage, as she spoke to the crowd and shared the inspiration behind these songs.

Hits and Classics

Following the opening, a series of powerful performances kept the audience engaged. With “Drachen” and “Ich wünsch dir,” she performed new songs that already feel like classics. These songs, also from “Herz Kraft Werke,” showcased the evolution of her sound—more mature and personal than ever.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the medley of English-language songs, where Connor reflected on her early career. The crowd cheered loudly upon recognizing “Let’s Get Back to Bed – Boy!” from her debut album “Green Eyed Soul” (2001). This song brought back memories of when Sarah first broke onto the international scene.

As she moved into “Cold as Ice” and “From Zero to Hero,” both from her later albums, Sarah proved that her English tracks still pack a punch. “From Zero to Hero,” the 2005 chart-topping anthem, was delivered with an energy that electrified the crowd, reminding everyone just why it was such a massive hit.

Emotional Depth and New Classics

The set took an emotional turn with “Das Leben ist schön” and “Stark,” both from the “Herz Kraft Werke” album. These songs, reflecting on life experiences and inner strength, visibly struck a chord with the audience. Connor’s vocal prowess was fully on display here, with every word seeming to carry deep meaning.

It was particularly moving to see how Sarah took her fans on a journey through her life and career, especially with personal songs like “Kommst Du mit ihr” and “Vincent.” The latter, one of her most recent hits, tells the story of a boy struggling with his sexuality—a song that made a profound impact and highlighted Connor’s role as a modern voice for acceptance and love.

Energy Until the Last Note

The evening ended with an explosion of energy. The evening grew even more intimate when Sarah invited a young singer named Jannik from the crowd to join her on stage. Together, they performed some moving duets, like “Bedingungslos” and U2’s “When Love Comes to Town,” bringing a fresh and electrifying dynamic to the classic cover. Jannik’s powerful voice complemented Sarah’s perfectly, creating a truly memorable moment. However, it was the closing number “Wie schön du bist” that wrapped up the night with a sense of warmth and togetherness. This song, one of her biggest hits from the album “Muttersprache,” was sung loudly by the audience and was the perfect end to an evening filled with emotion and musical excellence.

A Star Shines Bright

Sarah Connor reaffirmed her status as one of Germany’s most cherished artists. Her voice, charisma, and the genuine emotion she brings to her performances made this concert a highlight of the summer. Balancing nostalgic hits with fresh new tracks—and the surprise addition of Jannik’s duet—Sarah delivered a night that fans will hold close to their hearts for a long time to come.
