Wale Announces 2024 “Every Blue Moon Tour”
|Wale is set to hit the road in 2024 for his highly anticipated “Every Blue Moon” tour. Produced by Live Nation, this 32-city tour kicks off on September 19 at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale and will take the rapper to major cities including Atlanta, New York, and Chicago, before concluding on November 7 at Iron City in Birmingham. Fans can expect Wale to perform classic hits from his extensive catalog, as well as new music from his forthcoming eighth album, which is set to be released this fall under Def Jam Recordings.
2024 also marks the 15th anniversary of Wale’s debut album, “Attention Deficit” (2009), which first established him as one of hip-hop’s most exciting new talents. Over the years, Wale has proven himself as one of the most versatile artists in the rap game, seamlessly blending elements of backpack rap with mainstream appeal.
Since bursting onto the scene with his 2008 project “A Mixtape About Nothing,” Wale has consistently pushed the boundaries of hip-hop. His unique style, which mixes striking social commentary with braggadocious bars and anthemic tales of romance and aspiration, has earned him both Platinum and Gold certifications, cementing his status as one of the most accomplished MCs to come out of the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) area.
Born Olubowale Victor Akintimehin to Nigerian immigrant parents in Washington, D.C., Wale initially pursued a career in football before dropping out of college to focus on music. His first local hit, “Dig Dug (Shake It),” released in 2006, was inspired by the go-go movement of his hometown and quickly made him a name to watch. After a series of successful mixtapes, Wale’s career took off with “A Mixtape About Nothing,” a project inspired by his favorite TV show, Seinfeld. The mixtape showcased his ability to tackle diverse subjects with a blend of nuance, critical thought, and machismo, setting him apart in an era where rap subgenres were more rigidly defined.
By the time he released his major-label debut album, “Attention Deficit,” in 2009, Wale had already been named a member of XXL’s prestigious Freshman Class and was recognized as one of hip-hop’s premier rising stars. His career continued to ascend when he joined Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group in 2011, releasing his sophomore album, “Ambition,” which included the Platinum-certified hit “Lotus Flower Bomb.” Over the next decade, Wale solidified his place in the rap world with a string of successful albums including “The Gifted” (2013), “The Album About Nothing” (2015), “Shine” (2017), and “Wow…That’s Crazy” (2019), earning multiple Platinum and Gold certifications along the way.
After taking a brief hiatus from music, Wale re-emerged in 2023 with a new deal at Def Jam and a feature on Odumodublvck’s “Blood On The Dance Floor,” which topped the charts in Nigeria for eight weeks. He also celebrated the 10th anniversary of his album “The Gifted” with a headline show at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and received his first Diamond certification for his collaboration with Waka Flocka on the track “No Hands.”
As Wale prepares to release his eighth studio album and embark on the “Every Blue Moon” tour, he continues to solidify his legacy as one of hip-hop’s most innovative and enduring voices.
