Shakira Sets European Record With Historic Residency

Shakira has made history with her upcoming European residency, selling more than half a million tickets within hours. The extraordinary demand confirms her global appeal and marks one of the fastest-selling runs ever for a live music event in Europe.
The residency is set to take place in Madrid and will expand to a total of 11 shows following the addition of two extra dates. With these new performances, the project is already being described as the largest residency in Europe this year. The scale of the event highlights Shakira’s continued influence as one of the world’s most powerful live performers.
A Global Icon With Unmatched Reach
Shakira is a Colombian singer-songwriter and multiple GRAMMY® Award winner, known for her fusion of Latin, pop, and global sounds. She has sold over 95 million albums worldwide and remains one of the most streamed female Latin artists in history. Her success spans decades, supported by a catalogue that has consistently connected with audiences across continents.
Her recent album ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ received widespread acclaim and further cemented her status as a global superstar. The album achieved major commercial success and reinforced her ability to evolve artistically while maintaining a strong connection with her audience.
The Residency Experience in Madrid
The European residency will take place at a specially designed venue called Shakira Stadium, located within Iberdrola Music. The temporary space is built to host more than 50,000 fans per night and has been created to deliver an immersive live experience with advanced acoustics and optimal sightlines.
Beyond the concerts, the project transforms the area into a cultural hub under the name Es Latina. This concept includes music performances, exhibitions, talks, workshops, film, literature, and gastronomy. Shakira has curated the initiative to emphasise shared cultural roots and a sense of global community.
Breaking Records Worldwide
The success of the residency announcement follows a series of record-breaking milestones. In Mexico City, Shakira performed a free concert at the Zócalo that attracted 400,000 attendees, setting a record for the largest crowd ever gathered at the square. She also completed a series of 13 consecutive shows at Estadio GNP Seguros, drawing more than 800,000 fans in total.
During one of the final performances in that run, she was joined by Beéle, with whom she recently collaborated on the single “ALGO TÚ”. These achievements reflect the momentum behind her current world tour, which has become the most successful tour ever by a Spanish-language artist.
Expanding the 2026 Tour
Shakira will continue her global touring schedule in 2026 with additional international appearances. Before her European residency, she is set to perform at a major event in Brazil, further extending the worldwide reach of her live performances.
The newly added shows in Madrid are scheduled for 10 and 11 October 2026, joining the existing lineup and bringing the total number of performances to 11. Tickets for these dates are now available through official sales channels.
