Dropkick Murphys Release New Song to Speak Out Against the Killings in Minnesota
Dropkick Murphys have released a new track titled “Citizen I.C.E.”, featuring Haywire, now available on all major digital platforms. The song precedes both the digital and physical release of the band’s upcoming 12-inch split LP, New England Forever.
“Citizen I.C.E.” is a reworked version of Dropkick Murphys’ 2005 song “Citizen C.I.A.” and was recorded in late 2025. The band recently teased the track on social media with a video highlighting the fatal police shootings in Minneapolis, underscoring the song’s urgent political message.
In a statement shared across their social channels, Dropkick Murphys addressed the motivation behind the release, calling the song a response to ongoing violence and abuse of power in the United States. The band emphasised that the track is intended as a voice of resistance and solidarity, encouraging listeners to stand against oppression and injustice.
Lyrically, “Citizen I.C.E.” delivers a direct and confrontational critique of authority, targeting institutional violence, the abuse of immigrants, and the normalisation of cruelty under the guise of power. The song continues the band’s tradition of politically charged punk rooted in working-class activism.
As previously announced, the vinyl edition of New England Forever will be available exclusively at shows on Dropkick Murphys’ For The People… In The Pit St. Patrick’s Day Tour, running from February 9 through March 17. Most dates on the tour will feature support from The Aggrolites and Haywire. The U.S. run concludes in Boston with Dropkick Murphys’ annual hometown shows during St. Patrick’s Day week on March 13, 14, 15 and 17, events that traditionally draw fans from around the world.
New England Forever brings together Boston-based Dropkick Murphys and Haywire, who connected while touring Europe together last fall. Each band contributed three original songs to the eight-track LP, along with a cover of one another’s work. Haywire recorded Dropkick Murphys’ “The Boys Are Back,” while Dropkick Murphys took on Haywire’s “Always By My Side.”
