“Breakthrough,” his 17th studio album released on J&R Adventures, combines global influences with deeply personal songwriting. The album was produced by longtime collaborator Kevin Shirley and co-written with Tom Hambridge, James House and Gary Nicholson, earning praise for its adventurous approach and emotional resonance.

Critics have responded enthusiastically to the new release. Premier Guitar put Bonamassa on their cover, calling “Breakthrough” a balanced mix of hard-edged rock and classic soul-pop. Blues Rock Review gave it 9.5 out of 10 stars, describing it as “an amazing record that promises to become a classic.” Cryptic Rock highlighted the album’s diverse sound, while Rock and Blues Muse praised it as “one of Bonamassa’s finest” efforts.

The announcement comes after Bonamassa wrapped up his European summer dates, which included sold-out performances in Ireland and festival appearances at North Sea Jazz, Montreux Jazz Festival and Bospop. His busy 2025 schedule continues with U.S. summer shows at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles (July 31st) and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado (August 8th). September brings opening slots for The Who in Chicago and a performance at Louisville’s Bourbon & Beyond Festival, followed by his sold-out Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea Alaska cruise. A comprehensive U.S. fall tour will close out the year starting in November.
