Sigur Rós Announces European Tour
|Sigur Rós has announced the European leg of their unique world tour, where they collaborate with local orchestras to bring their latest album “ÁTTA” and other songs to life. During this tour, Sigur Rós will perform in some of the world’s most iconic concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, Sala Santa Cecilia in Rome, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Bozar in Brussels, and the Konzerthaus in Vienna.
This tour follows their latest album “ÁTTA” (2023), last year’s sold-out orchestral tour through Europe, and two recently completed, sold-out North American tours. The 2024/2025 shows will be the last chance for fans to witness this orchestral performance of Sigur Rós. 2025 will also be special for the band, as their iconic album “Takk” celebrates its 20th anniversary.
For the first time in their career, Sigur Rós will perform at the Royal Albert Hall, accompanied by the London Contemporary Orchestra (LCO). Robert Ames will conduct all shows. The band will collaborate with other orchestras in 2025 including the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra, Resound Collective, Brisbane Philharmonic, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and more.
In 2023, Sigur Rós decided to include orchestral accompaniment in their tours, to highlight a series of phenomenal orchestras around the world, not just themselves. After reuniting with keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson in 2022, the band performed with orchestras in major concert halls across Europe and North America. The performances were both expressive and indescribable.
The new tour follows a remarkable period for the band’s fans. At the start of the new decade, the band delved deep into their archives for long-awaited projects. First, they released “Odin’s Raven Magic” (2020), an orchestral album made almost two decades earlier, and then they reissued their album “()” in 2022 to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Their first new material in nearly a decade, “ÁTTA” (2023), leans heavily on orchestral influences, featuring contributions from the London Contemporary Orchestra. With nearly ten million albums sold, Sigur Rós is one of the most ambitious bands of recent times.
