Bert McCracken Announces Fall Tour Dates for Solo Project, robbietheused
|Bert McCracken, frontman of The Used, has announced a series of fall tour dates for his solo project, robbietheused.
Tour Launch and New Music
Following the success of his latest singles, “The Feels” and “Just a Little Bit,” robbietheused is embarking on a highly anticipated five-stop fall tour. The tour kicks off on October 30 in Anaheim, CA, and will hit major cities including Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York City, before concluding in Asbury Park, NJ, on November 5.
A Personal Journey with robbietheused
McCracken describes his solo project as a rebirth and a reconnection with his childhood love for pop music. “To be able to say that robbietheused is playing five live shows and to sing these songs in a room with you guys is a dream come true,” McCracken shared. “I’m so excited, nervous, and grateful. Thanks for being here. See you there, Love Robbie.”
Best known for his two decades of fronting The Used, McCracken has always been drawn to pop music and is excited to share his passion with fans. “I was inspired by all generations of pop—I love ’80s pop, ’90s pop, early-2000s pop, and I love today’s pop as well,” he explains.
The New Sound of robbietheused
Recent singles like “The Feels” and “Just a Little Bit” offer a fresh take on the familiar angst of robbietheused’s lyrics, combining them with a hopeful outlook and synth-infused pop melodies. The result is a sound that’s impossible not to move to.
A Therapeutic Recording Process
McCracken finds solace in writing and recording music, particularly as a way to manage his mental health. This creative outlet became crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic when he was unable to leave his home in Australia.
McCracken teamed up with longtime collaborator and producer John Feldmann for his solo project. Their strong bond allowed for seamless collaboration and a fresh, pop-oriented sound. “John Feldmann is a wizard,” McCracken says. “He can make anything, and he’s the hardest-working man I know in the music industry. There’s no drama when recording with him—it was a smooth process, just like making a Used record.”
The duo spent intense weeks in the studio, often recording a song per day, an approach McCracken likened to therapy. “We’d start the day talking about our feelings and what’s on our minds,” he explains. “Then we’d build a song around that—it was almost like therapy, allowing me to express anything I was thinking about.”
Looking Ahead
With a full album on the way and more live dates expected, robbietheused is shaping up to be a powerful new chapter in McCracken’s career. “Any feeling is valid, and putting it to music is incredible,” he says. “There’s so much room in the world for positivity, love, growth, redemption, and even sweet, loving revenge. There are so many good people and good things happening.”
