Rain or Shine: A Day of Dynamic Performances with Saint Clara and The Cult at Smukfest
|The rain once again ripped through Denmark, and a minor storm showed up to join in the festivities of Smukfest. The guests don’t seem to mind a little extra rain, and once again the grounds bear very little mark of the massive amounts of water pouring down. The grounds still buzz with the sound of happy guests, and there is life in every corner. We were looking forward to a day with great music and, especially, some good old-school rock. Unfortunately, the rain made what should have been a fairly short drive much longer, which in turn meant we missed the first two planned bands of the day.
Saint Clara
Supermodel and superstar, Saint Clara seems to be able to do it all. This beautiful young artist has captured the essence of every young mind, both now and in the past. The hit song “Progress” resonates with a lot of people, and why wouldn’t it? Keeping our emotions in to avoid a spectacle is one thing, but at this concert, no emotions were bottled up. Saint Clara is a showwoman. The backup dancers and lights were amazing; no expense was spared.
The show felt very well-coordinated; Clara knew how to use the stage and the lights to her advantage. She was pitch-perfect, playing around with the songs, which made for an excellent live show. The professionalism this young woman displays is quite astounding. The audience loved the show. Cheers and applause echoed through the grounds, with fans singing along to every word. Saint Clara’s energy was contagious, creating an amazing experience. The setlist was a perfect blend of her old and new songs, showcasing her versatility and growth as an artist.
The Cult
An absolute powerhouse of a band! Ian Astbury seems to have hit the fountain of youth. He was everywhere and anywhere at the same time, exuding so much energy and power. Ian’s voice was spot-on, delivering classics with ease!
The Cult delivered a setlist of absolute classics, with “Lucifer” being the most recent addition that thrilled the audience. Fans sang along passionately to anthems like “She Sells Sanctuary” and our favorite, “Rain,” while the band’s dynamic stage presence kept everyone on their feet. The lighting and sound quality were top-notch, enhancing the overall experience.
Astbury’s charisma and stage presence are unparalleled. His interaction with the audience added a personal touch, making the performance feel intimate despite the large crowd. The Cult’s ability to maintain such high energy throughout the show is commendable.
In an unexpected twist, our photographer was not allowed in the photo pit—no one was. So, our photographer had to be in the crowd. As far as we can tell, there was absolutely no reasoning behind it. The band was on top of their game, and they all looked amazing!
