Light in the Attic and Nancy Sinatra partner for reissue of “Nancy In London”

The renowned archival label Light in the Attic continues its partnership with legendary singer, actress, activist, and icon Nancy Sinatra with a definitive reissue of her 1966 album “Nancy In London.” Originally released following her hit debut album “Boots” and her sophomore follow-up “How Does That Grab You?”, the album was recorded in three days at Pye Studios, where The Kinks, Petula Clark, and David Bowie made their music in the mid-60s. With songs like “On Broadway,” “Wishin’ and Hopin’,” and “This Little Bird,” the album has an unmistakably British feel. The album also features Nancy and Lee Hazlewood’s timeless duet “Summer Wine.”

Founded in a Seattle basement apartment in 2001, Light in the Attic has established itself worldwide as a leading, multi-GRAMMY-nominated reissue label. With over 200 titles released globally, the label has set the standard for the archival process. Light in the Attic’s releases are always presented in vibrant packaging with professionally restored audio, in-depth liner notes, striking photography, and premium-quality vinyl.

Expanded Reissue

The reissue of “Nancy In London” will be released on September 6 in vinyl, CD, and digital formats. The LP edition will be available in classic black vinyl and a special limited-edition coloured vinyl (including “Summer Wine” red and “Little Bird Blue” with peach splatter). All formats feature freshly remastered audio from the original analogue tapes by GRAMMY-nominated engineer John Baldwin. The vinyl edition is pressed at Record Technology, Inc. (RTI) and presented in an expanded gatefold jacket, accompanied by a 20-page booklet featuring a new interview with Sinatra conducted by the reissue’s GRAMMY-nominated co-producer Hunter Lea, plus never-before-seen photos from the artist’s archive. All music configurations, including limited-edition autographed vinyl, will also be available at Nancy’s Bootique.

Nancy Sinatra Archival Series

“Nancy In London” is the latest release in Light in the Attic’s ongoing Nancy Sinatra Archival Series, a collaboration with the celebrated artist that honours her musical legacy. Previous releases in this series include her debut album “Boots,” “How Does That Grab You?,” “Nancy & Lee,” and “Nancy & Lee Again,” as well as the career-spanning retrospective “Start Walkin’ 1965-1976” and its companion “Keep Walkin’: Singles, Demos & Rarities 1965-1978.” The series also includes various limited-edition merchandise and other special releases.

Looking Back at the 60s

In August 1966, during a period of extraordinary productivity, “Nancy In London” was Sinatra’s third album released that year. Sinatra’s star continued to rise with a series of best-selling albums and hit singles such as “Sugar Town,” “Somethin’ Stupid” (a duet with her father), and the James Bond theme song “You Only Live Twice.” After stepping back from the industry in the 70s to focus on her family, Sinatra returned in the mid-90s with new albums, including the star-studded “Nancy Sinatra.” Her influence is still recognized by new generations, with recent acknowledgements from Pitchfork, NPR, and Rolling Stone. In 2020, “Boots” was inducted into the GRAMMY Hall of Fame, and most recently, Beyoncé sampled “The Boot Are Made for Walkin’” on “Cowboy Carter” (2024).
