The Script Announces New Album and World Tour
|The Script has just announced that their new album, “Satellites,” will be released on August 16. At the same time, the band has unveiled a world tour. With 10 billion streams, 12 million albums sold, six number-one albums in the UK, and two platinum singles in the US, The Script returns with the new album “Satellites” and a new tour.
On the single “Both Ways,” we hear The Script with renewed energy and a confident flair. Tumultuous hip-hop and funk rhythms provide irresistible dance floor vibes that perfectly complement frontman Danny O’Donoghue’s voice while being entirely different from anything The Script has previously released.
Glen Power: ‘”Both Ways” is energetic and maybe not what people expect from us. But we are The Script, and now we have something to prove: that there is life and light after the darkness. That’s why we come fast and strong with this song.’
To honour their friend Mark Sheehan, the band decided to continue. Singer Danny O’Donoghue returned to the studio and experimented in various ways, including 808s and R&B-inspired sounds, focusing on uplifting tones. He collaborated with hitmakers Steve Robson (Rascal Flatts, Take That) and Wayne Hector (One Direction, Nicki Minaj), as well as band member Glen Power. This resulted in “Satellites,” an incredibly uplifting collection of songs that forged a new future for The Script. Although Mark is no longer with them, he remains a vital part of everything they do.
Danny explains: ‘The album cover shows silhouettes of me, Glen, and Ben Sargeant, our bassist who has been with us since the beginning. But you also see a silhouette with a hood because Mark’s spirit is still there. He will always be there, but it’s also a nod to the future. The Script will never be the same band again. We’re just trying to move forward and do what we all feel is right, and that is to keep making great music.’
“Satellites” will be available in a limited edition hardback book CD, black vinyl, and a standard CD. This year, they will perform for over 2 million fans worldwide. Tom Walker will join them on all dates as a special guest, except in Berlin, Munich, and Milan.
