Duran Duran to headline BST Hyde Park 2026
British music legends Duran Duran have been announced as headliners for BST Hyde Park 2026. The Birmingham-formed group will take to the Great Oak Stage alongside fellow legends and special guests Scissor Sisters, with a full line-up still to be announced.
From Birmingham to global stardom
Duran Duran were formed in Birmingham in 1978, taking their name from a character in the science fiction film Barbarella. The band rose to prominence in the early 1980s as one of the leading acts of the New Romantic movement, combining infectious pop songwriting with a flair for visual spectacle. Their music videos, often filmed in exotic locations, became a defining feature of the MTV era and helped propel them to international superstardom.
The classic line-up of Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Andy Taylor became one of the most recognisable in pop music. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, the group has proven to be one of the most enduring acts of their generation. Their catalogue spans more than four decades and includes some of the most beloved songs in pop history, among them “Rio”, “Hungry Like the Wolf”, “Girls on Film”, “The Reflex”, and “Ordinary World”.
Reinvention and resilience
What sets Duran Duran apart from many of their contemporaries is their ability to reinvent themselves without ever losing sight of what made them great. Through changing line-ups, shifting musical trends and the inevitable pressures of a long career, the band has continued to record and tour with remarkable consistency. Their 2021 album “Future Past” was met with widespread critical acclaim, introducing them to a new generation of fans while satisfying longtime devotees.
The announcement of their BST Hyde Park headline slot comes as no surprise to those who have followed their recent run of acclaimed live performances. Sharing the stage with Scissor Sisters promises an evening that celebrates the very best of bold, unapologetic pop music.
Duran Duran will perform at BST Hyde Park, London, on Sunday 5 July 2026.
