State Champs conquers Hamburg

State Champs

After the American pop-punk band State Champs visited Hamburg last year with Simple Plan and Mayday Parade, they finally returned to the Hanseatic city this year for their headline show – at Uebel & Gefährlich, accompanied by support acts The Home Team and Broadside.

Shortly after doors opened, the club in Hamburg’s bunker was more than well-filled. When Broadside took the stage as the first opening act, the good atmosphere in the crowd was already clearly noticeable. The band from Richmond, Virginia, which was founded in 2010, played in Germany for the first time since 2018.

The Home Team was also received more than enthusiastically by the audience. For the band from Seattle, it was their first tour on German stages – but given the many excited fans, a soon reunion seems likely. It’s always nice when the audience celebrates the opening acts as they did this evening.

After a short changeover break, State Champs finally took the stage in great spirits and opened the evening with “Silver Cloud” from their self-titled album released in 2024.

They continued with a good mix of songs like “Outta My Head,” “The Constant” or “Elevated.” The Hamburg crowd knew all the lyrics throughout the evening and was visibly happy to finally experience the new songs live.

So it was no question that State Champs returned to the stage once more to properly end the thoroughly successful concert evening with “Everybody But You” and of course “Secrets” – leaving behind a more than happy crowd.
