A Night to Remember: André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra in Herning
|On Wednesday, Maxazine attended the concert by André Rieu, and was absolutely stunned by the performance. The very young but very enchanting Emma Kok was the gem of the show. The evening was a beautiful blend of classical and some modern music. The visuals were stunning, and the heartfelt performances left the audience in awe yet again.
Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning has had the pleasure of hosting André Rieu for no less than 10 years in a row. They just celebrated their 10th anniversary. André has no problem attracting 15,000 people to a full arena in little old Denmark.
Monsieur Rieu, with his charismatic presence, led the Johann Strauss Orchestra and several guest stars through an evening full of grace and style. The set list was flawless, but on a personal level, I had hoped we would have Sir Anthony Hopkins’ “And the Waltz Goes On” on the list as well. An absolutely stunning piece, which Monsieur Rieu performs with such grace.
I will say that Emma Kok made up for the tiny disappointment with her rendition of the song “Voilà.” She sang with such passion and precision that it left me teary-eyed. Watching such a small and fragile girl deliver such a huge performance was an experience I will never forget. Her voice is unmatched, with such power and emotion in such a small body. Who knew? One word: Angelic.
There were so many stars in this show, and even though I can’t mention them all, we think the powerhouse Dorona Alberti deserves a mention. What a woman! First off: No one should be able to run that fast in a pair of heels! Unreal, mama, unreal! Second to none: Her voice! Its power blew us away. Her voice hit me right in the heart, and I could feel her presence fill the arena. This was absolutely stunning.
Fact: There is no way I could be objective on this one. Even if I wanted to, I got sucked in by the emotions, the vibe, and the overall feeling of utter bliss. It was hard not to feel like Herning was the centre of the world for a few hours. The audience could have been so privileged to have had this experience, and many are hungering for their next meeting with André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra.
