Rush Returns – The Fifty Something World Tour

Canadian rock legends Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are bringing Rush’s music back to stages across North America, South America and Europe in 2026 and 2027 – a celebration of 50 years of music and a tribute to the late drummer and lyricist Neil Peart.

Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, the two remaining members of the iconic Canadian rock band Rush, have announced one of the most ambitious touring plans in the band’s history. What began as a North American run has grown into a global undertaking spanning three continents, 24 cities and over half a million tickets sold – with more shows still to come.

A Band in a Class of Its Own

Rush defies simple categorisation. With Geddy Lee on bass, keyboards and vocals, Alex Lifeson on guitar and the late Neil Peart on drums and lyrics, the trio created a sound that was at once technically overwhelming and deeply human. More than 45 million albums sold worldwide, seven GRAMMY nominations and billions of streams speak for themselves – as does the fact that Rush holds, according to industry figures, the third-highest number of consecutive gold and platinum-certified studio albums for a rock band, surpassed only by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

The band is enshrined in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, holds stars on both the Canada Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, was named Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996 and received the Canadian Governor General’s Performing Arts Award in 2012.

The true legacy of Rush, however, lies in their ability to reimagine rock music without limits – a balance of virtuoso instrumentation, anthemic vocals, thought-provoking lyrics and timeless storytelling that has attracted one of the most devoted audiences in music history, spanning generations.

A Tour Born of Grief and Love

On January 7, 2020, the world said goodbye to Neil Peart after his battle with brain cancer. For the band’s fans, it was not merely the loss of a drummer – it was the loss of one of rock history’s great thinkers, whose lyrics had given voice and meaning to countless lives.

In 2025, Lee and Lifeson announced their return to the stage with a North American tour as a tribute to the band’s music and to Peart’s memory. The response exceeded all expectations. The first 22 shows sold out almost instantly, and the tour grew to 58 concerts in 24 cities. Now that enthusiasm carries across the Atlantic.

All shows are classic ‘An Evening With’ concerts across two full sets, with a setlist drawn from a repertoire of over 40 songs that will vary from night to night. As Geddy Lee puts it himself: ‘We are rehearsing around 40 songs so we can keep the concerts dynamic and vary the setlists from night to night.’

New Faces, Old Soul

Rush will be joined on tour by German drummer Anika Nilles, who has performed over 60 concerts with the late guitar legend Jeff Beck and released four solo albums, as well as keyboardist Loren Gold, known for his work with The Who and Roger Daltrey.

Replacing Neil Peart is a task no one can fully accomplish. But Nilles brings her own remarkable technical ability and musical sensitivity – and this project is not about replacement, but continuation.

That is underscored by the response from Peart’s family. His widow Carrie Nuttall-Peart and daughter Olivia Peart have expressed their full support, describing Peart as an artist who ‘shaped how fans connected with him and the band, and gave voice and meaning to their own lives.’
