John Music passed away

Mr Music, John Miles passed away yesterday after a short serious illness. In 1976 John had a worldwide hit with ‘Music’. This song became the anthem of ‘Night of the Proms’, where John was already a guest during the first edition in 1985. John has been an integral part of the tour since the start of the concert series in Antwerp, with the exception of the two years in which he accompanied Tina Turner as musical director and lead guitarist.

John Miles has never shied away from a musical challenge, which has resulted in unforgettable musical moments, including his duets with Andrea Bocelli (1995), Michael McDonald (2002), Sharon den Adel (2009), Anastacia (2012), Zucchero (1999), Emily Bear (2017), Lara Fabian (2007), Milow (2018) and Ronan Keating (2016).

He also provided covers of unforgettable hits by Queen, Led Zeppelin, ELO, Miley Cyrus, Avicii and Van Halen. John Miles died at the age of 72 in his hometown of Newcastle (England), surrounded by his family. In addition to his wife Eileen, to whom he was married for 49 years, he leaves behind a son and daughter and two grandchildren.
